Albamar O Pereiro is a white wine aged on lees produced by the Galician winery Albamar in the D.O. Rías Baixas (Galicia) with the Albariño variety.
The brains behind Albamar is Xurxo Alba Padín Albamar, an immensely dedicated winegrower who took over the family business in 2006 in Cambados, in the O Salnés sub-region (Pontevedra) and made the family's first Albariño. He now produces a wide range of fresh, small-production Atlantic wines with nerve.
Albamar O Pereiro comes from a plot with clay soil near the sea in the town of Castrelo (Pontevedra). 7,000 square metres of vines planted in 2004 by Xurxo’s father. They are cultivated using sustainable viticulture and with a moderate and rational use of treatments. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Albamar O Pereiro grapes are selected and gently pressed with their stems. The resulting must then ferments spontaneously with native yeasts. Finally the wine rests in contact with lees for 5 months.
With a dowitcher on the label, a sea bird that flies over the vineyard, Albamar O Pereiro is a wine that honours this lovely location. An Albariño estate wine with great Atlantic influence.
