About Château Pavie Macquin

Château Pavie Macquin is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Pavie Macquin with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot varieties in the prestigious AOC Saint-Émilion, in Bordeaux (France).

Château Pavie Macquin was founded in the 19th century by Albert Macquin, a dedicated viticulturist who pioneered the fight against phylloxera and was one of people behind transforming the Saint-Émilion vineyards (Gironde). In 2006, the estate was awarded Premier Grand Cru Classé B classification and its wines embody the prestige and excellence of the right bank of the Bordeaux region.

Château Pavie Macquin comes from vineyards located on a plateau 100 metres above sea level. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B, there are 15 hectares of vines planted on deep clays and limestone. The vines are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture and biodynamic techniques to preserve the natural balance of the terroir.

In the winery, the Château Pavie Macquin grapes are carefully selected and crushed to begin spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 24 months in 225-litre French oak barrels before bottling.

Château Pavie Macquin is a Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint Émilion where creaminess is perfectly combined with brilliant acidity. An excellent red with a great future.
