Urziger Markus Molitor Würzgarten Spatlese White Capsule is a monovarietal Riesling white wine from theVDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer produced by the Markus Molitor winery.

Molitor is an 8th generation family winery. The last to take the reins, Markus Molitor, was put in charge of the family winery in 1984 when he was 20 years old. Since then his aim has been to produce the best Riesling in Moselle. He cultivates Pinot Blanc and Riesling, his plots have slate soils and some of them are on slopes with an incline of up to 80%.

The vineyards for Markus Molitor Urziger Würzgarten Spatlese White Capsule are located on the banks of the Moselle, in plots with steep slopes and soils of fine slate that are rich in iron. They are harvested manually and have yields of less than 55 hectolitres per hectare.

In the cellar the Markus Molitor Urziger Würzgarten Spatlese White Capsule harvest is pressed gently and the must then macerates with the skins for several hours to extract aromas from the skins. It then ferments with natural yeasts in stainless steel tanks for about 3 months, and lastly, the wine is aged on lees for 6 months in wooden barrels.

2017 Markus Molitor Urziger Würzgarten Spatlese White Capsule 2017 is a dry white with a spicy nose accompanied by notes of pear, citrus, orange, herbs and brown sugar. On the palate it is rounded and quite smooth, with a ripe acidity and a pleasant, fresh and persistent aftertaste.
