Matadiablos 2023 is a red wine with a cherry hue and a medium-low depth, exuding elegance at first glance. On the nose, it reveals aromas of fresh red fruit and delicate floral nuances, accompanied by a pronounced mineral expression reminiscent of damp clay after the rain. On the palate, it is fresh, fluid, and precise, with an intentional lightness that caresses the palate without losing depth. About Matadiablos

What if there were wines that didn't originate from a contemporary idea, but from a history that has been waiting for centuries to be told in a glass?
 
In Gumiel de Mercado (Castilla y León, Spain), Casa Lebai is incomprehensible without the element of time. It is the personal endeavour of brothers Rodrigo and Asier Calvo, who have returned to their familial roots to perceive the vineyard with a fresh perspective: through the lens of memory, ancient documents, and an understanding of viticulture as a living legacy. Amongst centuries-old papers and vineyards that still recall previous generations, the wine here becomes a means of continuing to write what others began long ago.
 
Matadiablos is a red wine originating from a plot of the same name, on the slopes of Aguachar, where the tinto fino (tempranillo) thrives at over eight hundred metres, with a northern orientation and soils that dictate a slower, more precise rhythm. In the glass, it presents with restrained dark fruit, an elegant spicy note, and a sense of depth that seeks not to impress, but to linger. Its time in the foudre imparts structure without edges, as if everything were designed to honour the landscape rather than to dominate it.
 
Matadiablos is a wine that demands attention without imposing, perfect for those tables where conversation extends and time loses some of its urgency.
