About Nicolas Mariotti Bindi Zinzinu
Nicolas Mariotti Bindi does not hail from a winemaking lineage. He was neither born into a family of oenologists nor did he inherit vineyards; he came to viticulture by choice, passion, and personal endeavour. "I do not come from a family of winemakers," Nicolas reiterates, and each time he says it, it resonates as a reminder that great achievements are built, not received.
After studying Law in Paris, he decided to make a radical shift and return to his roots in Corsica to pursue his dream of working the land and crafting wine. Nothing predisposed him to oenology, but in 2007 he successfully produced his first vintage, marking the beginning of a project that has become a benchmark within the AOC Patrimonio in Corsica.
With passion and perseverance, he established his winery in Oletta, and today he cultivates 15 hectares of organic vines, each plot meticulously tended with absolute respect for the land. The cultivation is limited to the essentials, the harvest is carried out manually, and the winemaking follows a natural approach, using only small doses of SO₂, indicated on the label, to preserve the wine's authenticity.
From this philosophy emerges Zinzinu, a 100% vermentino that clearly reflects the terroir of the clay and limestone slopes at an altitude of 250 metres. The vinification is traditional: the grapes undergo 48 hours of pre-fermentation maceration, ferment naturally for a month, and then rest for 12 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, with gentle, daily pump-overs that extract finesse without compromising the wine's delicacy.
Zinzinu is elegant, fresh, and vibrant. Proof that one does not need to be born among vineyards to transform a dream into a white wine full of authenticity and character.
