About Oddbird Blanc de Blanc

Being asked whether you would like your coffee with or without milk is quite commonplace. However, being offered wine with or without alcohol is quite the anomaly. With the aim of normalizing non-alcoholic wines in a society where those requesting alcohol-free options are often perceived as dull, pregnant, or health-challenged, the Swedish ex-therapist Moa Gürbüzer founded Oddbird, the pioneering viticultural project that introduces an extensive range of premium non-alcoholic natural wines. To accomplish this, she has collaborated with expert organic viticulturists from leading wine regions who are committed to low-intervention production and the highest quality.

Among their collection of wines, we find Oddbird Blanc de Blanc, a sparkling wine made exclusively from chardonnay grapes cultivated in the lightly clayey, stony, and limestone soils of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France. Organic farming practices are employed, and the grapes are handpicked at the optimal point of ripeness. Once at the winery, following the traditional method, the base wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks without the addition of any enological preservatives. This is followed by a second fermentation in the bottle, resting on the lees for 12 months with 42 g/l of sugar. Finally, the wine is gently dealcoholized to preserve the wine's natural character.
