Wines from the Balearic Islands

The wine from the Balearic Islands corresponds to that produced in the islands that make up the archipelago (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera). The terrain is characterised by rocky soil and red sandstone. The Balearic climate consists of moderate temperatures and limited rainfall. The most characteristic wines are Merlot reds, Callet or Cabernet Sauvignon, although the most famous wines from the Balearic Islands are the whites made with a single variety of grape, Chardonnay or Muscat.
