About ARPEPE Sassella Stella Retica

ARPEPE Sassella Stella Retica is a barrel-aged red wine crafted from the nebbiolo grape variety in Lombardy by the family-run winery ARPEPE.

Although the vineyards in Valterillo have been tended by five generations, it was not until 1984 that Arturo Pelizzatti Perego began producing his own wines with the aim of creating a world-class nebbiolo in Lombardy. Today, his three children continue the ARPEPE legacy, which is rooted in tradition, passion, and technology.

ARPEPE Sassella Stella Retica originates from vineyards situated on perilously steep terraces in the heart of Valtellina. These plots are located at altitudes ranging from 400 to 600 metres above sea level, with soils primarily composed of granite, red clay, and schist. The winery practices environmentally respectful and entirely manual viticulture, with yields limited to 45 hl/ha.

In the winery, the selected grapes of ARPEPE Sassella Stella Retica are crushed and undergo a 15-day maceration on the lees. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 2 years in oak and chestnut barrels.

ARPEPE Sassella Stella Retica is a captivating nebbiolo crafted outside of Barolo. A robust and elegant wine highly coveted by connoisseurs.

2015 Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Stella Retica 2015 is a smooth red wine with aromas of violet and pink flowers, small red berries and spicy notes. On the palate it is fruity, fine and tasty. The clear tannins and integrated acidity make for a fresh, mineral, intense and balanced wine.
