About Tagaro Lunario Fiano

The heel of the Italian boot is a land that is unmistakable without the need for a map. Puglia unfolds as a succession of olive groves, dry stone walls, and dusty paths that weave through expansive fields. There is always that sense of proximity to the sea, even when it is out of sight.

Here, the landscape is not explained; it is inhabited. The light is intense, almost direct, flooding everything with a clarity that leaves no room for the superfluous. In this setting, every decision in the vineyard carries real weight, visible in the way the vine grows and how the grape responds at the end of the cycle.

Tagaro Lunario Fiano is born precisely from this relationship between light, land, and constant toil.

From the heart of Puglia, in southern Italy, Cantine Tagaro develops a family-driven project led by the Lorusso family, with Michele Lorusso providing the technical oenological vision. It is a winery that perceives wine as a direct translation of the landscape.

Their wines are framed within the IGP Puglia, a geographical indication that allows freedom in varietal expression while always maintaining the identity of southern Italy. In this context, fiano is interpreted with clarity in Tagaro Lunario Fiano.

The vineyards are situated between 150 and 300 metres above sea level, in open plains and gentle hills. They are trellised plantings, adapted to the constant Mediterranean sunlight. The climate is warm and dry, with the continuous influence of the Adriatic and Ionian breezes moderating temperatures and helping to preserve the grape's natural freshness. The soils, with a limestone and clay base, compel the vine to delve deep for resources. This natural tension translates into a more balanced fruit, where ripeness does not eliminate freshness but coexists with it. The harvest is conducted at the optimal moment of ripeness, aiming to preserve the aromatic expression of fiano. The clusters are selected in the vineyard to ensure sound and balanced raw material.

After harvesting, the grapes are gently destemmed to avoid excessive extraction. They are delicately pressed, and the must undergoes preliminary clarification to remove natural impurities. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, allowing the aromatic purity and varietal expression of the fiano to be maintained. Once fermentation is complete, the wine remains in the tank for stabilisation, preserving freshness and definition. Finally, it is bottled to preserve its direct and luminous character.

Tagaro Lunario Fiano is the kind of wine that is easily understood, because it originates from a place where clarity reigns supreme. Opening it is a return to the light of southern Italy. A vibrant and quintessentially Mediterranean experience.
